Days 7-8. On the town in Hong Kong

Movie ads in the subway stations (this for "New York I Love You"):
Central, with its dense canopies of signs, lively, hilly streets with narrow sidewalks, lots of steps and escalators.

**********
I relished the fresh air in the The Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. The zoo was tiny, although the birds and small mammals were Chinese, and different from American zoos. The python was cool.

It's tempting to think you could learn Chinese by comparing bilingual signage (but the translation is rarely direct word for word -- their expressions are so different from English).

The Peak Tram on a foggy day.  I couldn't see anything but fog from the peak.

Laughing at infelicitous English is a guilty, if reliable, pleasure.

Wan Chai, and its streets of markets in the early evening.

Our most adventurous dining (in the high-rent category) was an exciting dinner at Bo Innovation, which offered a chef's tasting menu featuring "molecular gastronomy" (again, there are pics of all the food, so tune in later). We sat at a bar looking straight into the kitchen:
